When one thinks about where Orthodox Christianity exists, they usually think Greece, Russia, Romania etc, also known as the ‘Old World. However, over time, Orthodoxy has reached the shores of every land on Earth, including the Americas, Asia, Australia and beyond.

 

Though the Orthodox faith and its doctrines did not change, these ‘new’ lands, cultures and people who have embraced the faith have helped enrich how Eastern Orthodox Christianity is expressed. Therefore, it is important to learn how our fellow Orthodox brothers and sisters who live far away from the ‘Old World’ practice and live-out the faith.

 

THEME:

This exhibition focuses on the theme ‘My Neighbour’. Each photograph must reflect an expression of the Eastern Orthodox Christian faith in different parts of the world outside of majority-populated Orthodox countries.

 

We want to see the unique adaptations/expressions of Orthodoxy in countries where the faithful are a minority – such as Australia, Middle-East region, China, England. Each submission can choose to capture an expression of:

• cultural practices,

• architecture,

• celebration,

• daily life,

• community life/activities,

• landscapes,

• local people,

• folklore, and

• localised traditions.

 

SUBMISSION SPECIFICATIONS:

Each photograph must have a resolution of at least 200 dpi. The photograph will be printed in A3 and/or A2 copies and displayed on walls.

 

Each photograph must be in colour. If the entrant wishes to submit in black-and-white, they must also supply a coloured copy of the same photograph.

 

The entrant can only submit once and no more than 2 photographs.
